Rotarians and guests were happy to start off our day on October 17 to meet at the Chalet for breakfast with a particularly knowledgeable woman, Isabel Mackenzie.  Isabel heads up the work done by the Office of the Seniors Advocate for British Columbia.  The office is in Victoria.  We learned how they look at five key areas when it comes to seniors: health care, housing, income support, personal support and transportation.  They are ready to listen to and record any seniors concerns.  For us in the north, there is an appreciation when it comes to the significant differences we experience to those in the lower mainland.  The report to the Ministry of Health yearly, more frequently in matters of concern.  They also provide information; sending inquiries in the right direction when areas of concern come their way.
