Rob Eby and Casda Thomas were our guest speakers at Tuesday’s meeting.  As expected, their message about the RYLA Lakelse camp experience for our youth was excellent.  During their presentation, a question went out about Dragon Boats, doing this again this year, was there anyone in our club who was a Dragon Boater?  Hands went up from both sides of the table.

Rob knows he can now count on help from a couple of us.  This will be taken care of, all he needs to do is keep up the dialogue.  Casda and Rob asked for a Rotary presence this year, actually five Rotarians, to act as support leaders for the five teams of eight youths.  They see this role as the adult Rotarian encouraging their assigned team.  Prince Rupert Rotarians have made it a goal to involve First Nations youths from communities close to their city.  He suggested we sponsor a student from Kitamaat Village.  Tara Wilson, who has been the RYLA registrar, is moving so the committee is looking for someone to take on this role.  They also are looking for a Rotarian to act as treasurer.  The camp takes place over the July 1st weekend, June 30th – July 3rd. As in previous years, Casda invited all Rotarians to come out to the lake on  Sunday July 3rd for lunch and the closing ceremonies. Rob’s e-address is rob@theebygroup.com.
